but i've read a lot of stories about bad haircuts and I don't want it to be too plain or too short... If i didn't like my hair now I wouldn't care but because I like it as it is but still want a change, I don't want to regret it if it doesn't look the way I want it to. What are some good or bad experiences people have had with hairdressers - did you get the style you wanted or was it a mess?

Last time I cut my hair off from mid back to a chin length bob, the hairdresser accidently cut me bangs while trying to slither my sides. Then her superior, in an attempt to stop me from freaking out, cut my hair about 2 inches long all over my head. When I got to my car, I cried. After awhile I liked it. I still grew it out and it took 7 years. Think before you cut. Get a wig first. Make sure you bring pictures.
BTW, I had a picture that I brought in when I got that haircut, and I still didn't get even close to what I wanted. Now I'm studying to be a hairdresser, and I understand exactly what I did to make the stylist do what she did. I told her its supposed to curve in towards the face and I showed her with my fingers. Don't do what I did. Just show her the picture and tell them thats what you want if you take the plunge.

I think bobs are cute and funky
I had my mid length hair chopped to a bob sometime back and i really liked it alot. Well. I think you have to consult a hairdresser whom is used to managing your hair and knows everything about your hair.
I think you can give it a go. I have frizzy and thick hair but overall the result was good (:
